(Philippians 1:16)In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. That is how the bible begins. If you were to read the entire creation story, you would find that God didnt do it all in one day or with one snap of his fingers. It was a process. What would have happened if God would have cut the process short? How would the story be different if God stopped on day four and never added bird, fish, animals, or man? What would the results have been if He skipped day three and never added dry land? Would it be a water world? The good news is that God followed through and completed the process. Just as creating the earth was a process, your spiritual development will be a process. There is no shortcut to a healthy relationship with God. You must take it step by step, day by day, moment by moment. What steps have you taken in your walk with Christ? What is the next step you need to take? What is keeping you from taking the next step?(Read Genesis Chapters 1-2)

It’s 2012! Death

(from sctipture text above)
What might the disciples have been thinking as the storms arose?
How would you picture their faces during the storms?
When seeing Jesus asleep?
What worries or concerns might they have had?

- This must have not been an ordinary storm. These were fisherman, used to spending their lives on the sea and used to storms. For them to be afraid indicates it was quite a storm.

1. Fear Keeps us From Seeing Things Clearly.
- We lose sight of the Fact that God is in Charge even if he seems at rest.

2. It is Often through the Storms of Life that God Teaches us Some of the Most Important Lessons in Life.
- Jesus was well practiced at resting in his Fathers care and could rest despite lifes storms whether weather related or storms of emotion. Scripture provides us with comfort and the promise of strength in time of need. We are assured he will not abandon us to the storms of life.

3. We can Learn from the Disciples and their Reactions to the Fears they Had.
1. They Recognized and Identified their Fears.
2. They Gave their Fears over to Jesus
3. Awesome! But entirely and utterly possible and real to everyday life. What could be more meaningful than to have a relationship with the Creator of the Universe.

Christ Loves us as the Father Loves Him.
1.A true friend demonstrates unconditional love.
- Gods love isnt based upon our characteristics but upon his character 1 John 4:9
-Gods love isnt based upon our performance but on His provision. Romans 5:8
- God Love isnt based upon what You do, But on what he has done!
2. A True Friend is Sacrificial
- We all know John 3:16 and the extent to which God loves each of us. Its a love of sacrifice, a love that is willing to put aside ones own life for a friend.
- Christ is that kind of Friend. Jesus loved us so much that he went to the cross for us. He gave his life that we might live.

3. A true friend is committed to You
- A true friend will stick with you no matter what!
- One of the greatest things about having Christ as a friend is knowing that He will never leave nor forsake You. (Math. 28:20)

4. A True Friend communicates
- One of the essential parts of a relationship with Jesus is spending time together; talking to God; listening to God; sharing.
- We talk to God through Prayer.
- God talks to us through the Scriptures as the Holy Spirit works in our Heart.

Most things we include on how to be a friend can be an essential part of a developing relationship with Jesus Christ. He's not a Band aid for the rough times, but he wants to be with us always.

Jesus The Life Saver Mathew 14:22-33

1. We should model Jesus to each other but what does that look like? By examining Jesus in the context of his intimate relationships we will see the dynamics necessary to foster intimacy and openness in our group.

1. Jesus was dependable. Luke 2:42-49
2. Jesus was trustworthy. John 2:1-11
3. Jesus was giving. John 13:1-15
4. Jesus was a good listener. John 4:3-30

Basic Dynamics of a SAFE group are:
S= Sharing
A=Adopt listening posture
F=First Things First- Joy- Jesus; others; You.
E=Encouragement

The Formula For a Big Year - Soul Fuel - Dare 2 Share Youth Ministry Resources

The Formula For a Big Year - Soul Fuel - Dare 2 Share Youth Ministry Resources

Where Was God on 9/11? Am I becoming more and more patient in the testing of life?

2. Do I play with temptation or resist it from the start?

3. Do I find Joy in obeying the Word of God, or do I merely study it and learn it?

4. Are there any prejudices that shackle me?

5. Am I able to control my tongue?

6. Am I a peacemaker rather than a troublemaker? Do people come to me for spiritual wisdom?

7. Am I A friend of God or a friend of the world?

8. Do I make plans without considering the will of God?

9. Am I selfish when it comes to money?

10. Do I naturally depend on prayer when I find myself in some kind of trouble?

11. Am I the kind of person others seek for prayer support?

12. What is my attitude toward the wandering brother? 'Ill take care of the reception', you'd volunteered. You planned the best party possible. You hired the band, rented the hall, catered the meal, decorated the room, and asked your aunt Bertha to bake the cake.

Now the band is playing and the guests are smiling, but Aunt Bertha is nowhere to be seen. Everything is here but the cake. You sneak over to the pay phone and dial her number. SHe's been taking a nap. She thought the wedding was next week.

Oh boy! Now what do you do? Talk about a problem! Everything is here but the cake...

Sound familiar?

It might. Its exactly the dilemma Jesus' mother, Mary, was facing. Back then, wine was to a wedding what cake is to a wedding today.

What Mary faced was a social problem. No need to call 911, but no way to sweep the embarrassment under the rug either.

When you think about it, most of the problems we face today are of the same caliber. We're late for a meting. We leave something at the office. A coworker forgets a report. Mail gets lost. Traffic gets snarled. The waves rocking our lives are not life threatening yet. But they can be. A poor response to a simple problem can light a fuse.

For that reason you might want to note how Mary reacted. Her solution poses a practical plan for untangling life's knots. 'They have no more wine,' she told Jesus. (John 2:3) Thats it. that's all she said. She didnt go ballistic. She simply assessed the problem and gave it to Christ.

Its so easy to focus on everything but the solution. Mary didnt do that. She simply looked at the knot, assessed it, and took it to the right person. ' I've got one here I cant untie Jesus'.

'When all the wine was gone Jesus' mother said to Him, They have no more wine.' (John 2:3)

Please note, she took the problem to Jesus before she took it to anyone else. A friend told me about a tense deacons meeting he attended. Apparently there was more agitation that agreement, and after a lengthy discussion, someone suggested, 'Why dont we pray about it', to which another questioned, 'Has it come to that?'

What causes us to think of prayer as the last option rather than the first?"

- Max Lucado.

Check out our group photos at http://antioch.smugmug.com/

Donut Delivery Saturday December 8
- Take advantage of our early Saturday morning Donut delivery.
